HOW DOES THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?

Although massage therapists practice in a wide variety of locations (massage therapy centres, spas, clinics, private practices, hospitals, etc.), the session generally takes place in a clean, closed room, in a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

During your first appointment, the massage therapist will first assess your overall health. This is done by means of a questionnaire about your medical history and possible pain or symptoms. This will give the massage therapist all the information he or she needs to determine whether or not his or her skills and technique are well suited to your needs. If this is the case, the session can begin.

Depending on the massage therapist’s technique, the massage will last from 15 to 90 minutes and will take place on a table, futon or chair. For a table massage using oil, the massage therapist may ask you to undress. You may keep your underwear on and your body should be covered with a sheet, except for the area being massaged. Throughout the massage, you should tell the massage therapist if you feel any discomfort or pain. If necessary, the therapist will adapt their technique to give you the desired state of well-being.
