Recent media coverage of certain instances of misconduct in the field of massage therapy has raised many questions. The CEO of the FQM spoke with Benoit Dutrizac on QUB radio to discuss the issue.
Protecting the public remains a top priority for the FQM. Several concrete measures are already in place to ensure safe, respectful, and supervised care.
Concrete measures to protect the public
- Code of Deontology
- Syndic and disciplinary proceedings
- Structured training that includes courses on sexuality and professional ethics
- Health questionnaires that outline clients’ rights
- Explanation of the procedures and their therapeutic objectives
- Information resources provided to employers to help manage the therapist–client relationship
- Common registry of expulsions
It was also an opportunity to discuss the Massage Therapy Professionalization Project, which aims to protect the title of massage therapist, as well as to strengthen oversight and uniformize practice standards.
As you know, the FQM will always be there, through its various initiatives, to build public trust and promote the most wonderful profession in the world: massage therapy.
