Important changes were made in 2020 regarding the reimbursement of clients who issue insurance receipts for services covered by Medavie Blue Cross. If you have any questions concerning the following information, please contact their customer service department, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at 1-888-588-1212.

Eligible suppliers required to register

From now on, each massage therapist must register individually in order to be added as an eligible supplier. This change came into effect in June 2020. The registration steps are as follows:

  1. Visit the supplier registration page.
  2. Click on “Register” under “New registration”.
  3. Select your specialty.
  4. Complete the required fields.

Once you have created your supplier account, you can participate in the ePay service if you wish (see below).

You may be registered already

Medavie Blue Cross has informed us that “some members of your association may be registered already, if the client has submitted a claim for services rendered by the member”.

If that is the case, your insurance receipts will still be accepted, but you will not have an online supplier account, nor will you have access to the ePay service. When in doubt, we recommend that all members complete the registration process to ensure that they have an online supplier account in good and due form.

Make life easier for your clients with ePay

As a supplier eligible for Medavie Blue Cross, you have the option of signing up to use ePay, an instantaneous insurance receipt submission service. Contrary to other services, such as Telus Health, there are no further requirements in terms of training hours and years of experience.

How it works:

  • At the time of the massage therapy appointment, the client pays only the amount not covered by insurance.
  • The amount covered is automatically deposited into your bank account.

Note to employers

In order to avoid problems related to the non-reimbursement of fees for which insurance receipts have been issued, we recommend that you ask each employed massage therapist to register in good and due form and create an online eligible supplier account on the Blue Cross website, regardless of the professional association to which they belong as a member. Confirmation of registration could be among the prerequisites at the time of hiring new massage therapists. Please allow for a few days for Blue Cross to process your registration.
