We invite you to read Great-West’s response regarding their new training requirements for massage therapists in Quebec:
On May 07, 2019 we sent an email to advise you that we were reviewing the concerns raised regarding our minimum education requirements of 1000-hours for massage therapists in Quebec.
We have reviewed the concerns and determined that there is no major impact on massage therapists who are currently actively employed as massage therapists. Our decision is to maintain our requirements however we have extended our effective date to April 01, 2020.
As of April 1st, 2020, Great-West Life will require that all newly trained massage therapists complete a minimum 1000 hours of massage therapy training or education to be considered an eligible provider under our benefits plans.
The attached document provides details on how Great-West Life will determine eligibility for massage therapists who graduate before April 01, 2020 and those who are graduating on or after April 01, 2020.
Great-West Life Introduces the acceptance of Provider eClaims:
We are also announcing that Great-West Life is now accepting massage therapy claims through TELUS Provider eClaims.
This privilege is only available to massage therapists who are members of an association registered with TELUS Health Solutions and who officially have 1000-hours of massage therapy education, along with other criteria. Electronic claim submission is the way of the future and has multiple benefits for massage therapists.
Our movement to the 1000-hour minimum education requirement will align our acceptance of both paper claim submissions with electronic claims submission.
